What do you do when you have a well established, prosperous business with good outlook for future?… You sell it. Dustin Kroft, risked everything. Driven by his creative itch, ex-architect decided to pursue unknown and started designing and producing minimal furniture. Fast forward, he has a thriving business that services on both retail and commercial basis around the globe. In our opinion, this makes him an artist in both literal meaning, as well as in the business of furniture producing. Kroft has been featured in numerous publications, including Remodelista and Design Milk.

An art of minimal furniture design

Dustin’s story is an inspiration for every start-up operator. So when we were approached by him and invited to his studio, we felt both honoured and excited to hear more.

Good staging inventory is the grounding stone to every project. We like to mix modern pieces with vintage finds. Iconic designer items with more attainable brands. Yet the basis for us is always modern and minimal furniture. We feel this is something that differentiates listings and really helps stand out real estate photography from the rest.

Despite minimal staging might not work in every setting, we are delighted to know brands like Kroft exist and give us an option to choose items that would work perfectly with our design philosophy. Furniture design, part of art, is a way to instill art into our projects. That translates to realtor’s brand elevation – from proper to front page.

The process

This is what Kroft says about it’s quality:
“High quality has been mandate at KROFT since day one. It is the reason we decided to make everything in-house. We employ academically and professionally skilled furniture makers to see the process through from start to finish. We do employ new age technologies for the production of some of our products but the same standards apply to everything we make. Our process begins with purchasing the finest materials and then concludes with respecting those materials right through to the very end. A respect for the materials means knowing how to work with them and most importantly knowing how to finish them. “

We had this amazing opportunity to peek inside Kroft’s studio, see the intimate process of craftmanship, company is dedicated to and share this with all the design lovers, that appreciate local modern design.

Pieces, that Kroft handcrafts, are mostly made of wood – ash, white oak, oak and walnut. Dustin personally designs them and sources wood from local providers. You can purchase items “ready-to-wear”, customize them or order a completely custom design. Take a look at the details of their minimal furniture, superior in function and engineering.
